How can plumbing fixtures achieve a calmness and a stress-free life…. It's the benefits
This past week was a whirlwind of learning. I went to Kohler, Wisconsin for, you guessed it, plumbing and design. Being a Certified Interior Designer it’s my job to know the latest and upcoming product, but more importantly to understand how it will function in your ever-changing lifestyle. So, I will discuss sinks, faucets, toilets, and design trends up to 2024.
Sinks
The finishes that Kohler offers are Stainless Steel, Neoroc, and Enamel. We are all familiar with Stainless Steel, but have you heard of Neoroc? It’s a beautiful composite material that is designed to especially withstand your kitchen activities. Neoroc is durable, impact, stain, fade, and heat resistant. It will not chip or scratch and can handle up to 750 degrees. You probably don’t believe me. That’s OK. Just look at this Drop-Test Video
So, that video was impressive. Now you are probably wondering: “Well, I want an apron front (farmhouse style) sink, but I do not want to update my cabinets. I just want to do a makeover/facelift for my kitchen (new sink, new faucet, new countertop, and new backsplash; maybe new appliances).” That’s not a problem. Kohler has a low-profile apron front (farmhouse style) sink. This sink is only 6.75”H for the apron front and will fit in a standard kitchen sink base. You will only need to remove the false drawer front. This is a game changer. That kitchen makeover/facelift is now a possibility with this sink. It’s so beautiful:
Faucets
Now, we are all familiar with Purist Faucets. They are clean, simple, and contemporary. In September, Brushed Brass, an oldy but goody, is returning. This soft warm bronze color will be a perfect addition to this already highly adored collection. Another game changer is Purist Suspend. Yes, that’s right, it will be suspend from your no pitch 8’-10’ ceiling. Depending on your kitchen layout you might not need your pot-filler. Your control is on a puck-shaped Wi-Fi unit that is placed on the countertop. You will be able to control the spray as well as the temperature.
Toilets
Just like appliances are the work-hub to the kitchen, toilets are the work-hub in the bathroom. It’s an amazing concept of water and gravity for the toilet. The #1 concern for the toilet is performance. Will it hold up to my family’s waste removal? I know it’s a crazy unheard-of topic but true. You are purchasing the toilet to replace the existing one that is not performing. The reason why is water spot sizing. The larger the water spot, the less chance for the bowl to get dirty and smells to exit the bowl. This information is on the specifications of all Kohler toilets. Currently, Toto & American Standard sacrifice water spot size in their bowl designs to gain the additional water they need for their flushing cycles. You don’t need to take my word for it. Just look at the specs. The other concern is cleanliness.
Did you know there are one-piece toilets and two-piece toilets? You’re probably thinking, “What does that mean for me?” Easy, one-piece toilets have an integrated tank and bowl, whereas the two-piece toilets have the bowl and tank separately. Wouldn’t I want a two-piece toilet? Not necessarily… the two-pieces are harder to clean and install. Bonus, your one-piece toilet comes with a toilet seat. With a two-piece toilet you will need to purchase the seat separately. Plus, the one-piece toilets are more design-inspired around your décor style.
Decor and Design Trends till 2024
These styles and design trends can and will probably last past 2024. They are lasting/classical design because bathrooms are more in depth than just replacing your living room décor or adding accessories in your kitchen. The bathroom is a large expense and Kohler understands this. They want their styles to be timeless, warm, and classic. Everything you want in your bathroom today and in the future.
The latest styles:
Grand Millennial = Grandma Chic vibes
Return to Classical = not necessarily the whole space being traditional, just parts of it, focusing on millwork and molding
Farmhouse Evolution = cleaner lines, mixes of woods, classic simple tones, with matte black carried throughout the home
Curated Maximalism = muted bold colors with timeless looks, not as trendy, thoughtfulness from social media with bold saturated looks
Deco Minimalism = more cozy textures integration, with softer tones on furniture
Japandi = calming soothing, trend emerging on Japan/Scandinavian design, layering of tones and textures, that is understated and calm
