Memories gathered around food and loved ones... Is it Thanksgiving or a party?

I love Thanksgiving… Why?  I am with my family and friends eating amazing food and being thankful they are here with me celebrating.  My dad is 90 years old and still here enjoying life.  I think about my eldest sister Renee who passed away summer of 2018 due to cancer.  She was an amazing cook.  She also embraced the craziness my family brings.  I am now welcoming the silliness instead of hiding from it.

Let’s face it, no family is perfect… No matter how many amazing, beautiful posts of the picture-perfect family, it’s not real. Family is messy. Love is messy. Cooking is messy. I have been thinking about “Why” do I love Thanksgiving so much? It’s a party…. No, just think about it. A party is a celebration where you gather with food, family, & friends to celebrate that person. That’s what Thanksgiving is to me, a party. A celebration of family and friends coming around the table and reminiscing about the ones that passed away too soon for us.

I have been “let go” of cooking meats from my parents.  You can catch up on that blog here.  So now we do potluck.  I am usually in charge of sides & making sure my children enjoy it too.  My two younger children are autistic.  They do not care for foods I love and grew up on.  So now I make it enjoyable for them too or aka “Party”.  What I will be bringing for everyone to indulge in: cherries & chicken (from Look Out) for Azariah, PB&J for Ezekiel, Mac-n-cheese for my husband, Michel, & our eldest son, Pierre, an apple salad & scallop potatoes for myself.

You are probably thinking that’s a lot of food already. Believe me. I know. My parents always made sure we had enough to eat. We never went to bed hungry unless it was by choice. So, we will also be having ribs, turkey breast, ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, homemade cranberries, pumpkin pie, tort, custard pie and buckeyes. What are buckeyes you asked? Magical little drops of chocolate, peanut butter, rice crispy goodness. They are amazing. My children go crazy over them, and my mom makes them and knows how much they love them.

Love… I believe that’s why we celebrate Thanksgiving to show our loved ones how much we love them with our actions and the food we make. My kiddos show love by giving people gifts. That’s why family/friends attending our “Thanksgiving Party” will be receiving party favors. The bags decorated and candy hand selected by them. My kiddos Ezekiel & Azariah are proud of their goodie bags

How does all of this relate back to my business? Easy. I am just as passionate about my business as I am about Thanksgiving.  You become my family.  I get to collaborate with you on your dream project.  That could be a kitchen to start making these wonderful memories or a bathroom remodel to get away from the family craziness.  I get it completely.  I want to make your dream become a reality without the stress.  CW Design helps homeowners design their overwhelmed spaces and bring joy, creativity, and function back into them.  As a Certified Interior Designer and a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer, I ask questions to figure out how you function in your space, observe your lifestyle, and follow through with concept boards, drawings, and a plan of action.
