Bringing Calm to Your Cluttered Spaces
OK a New Year has begun. I am always trying to declutter my unorganized spaces at the beginning of the new year. It’s a fresh start and no matter how many times I clean the space, it still gets cluttered and untidy. The biggest culprits are my bathroom and linen closet. I sometimes feel they are never organized. So, I came up with these tips to help me out and I thought they might work for you as well.
Tip #1: TOSS IT
I am sometimes a hoarder when it comes to my bathroom accessories or linen items. I think I will need it, so I keep it. Then next year rolls around and I still have not used it. So, what I started doing is tossing out the items I have not used in the last 4 months. If I have not used it till now, chances are I never will, so I get rid of it. Depending on what it is, I give it away or toss it.
Tip #2: ORGANIZE
Currently my linen closet is so unorganized. I am writing this blog while cleaning. I was the inspiration for my own blog. I have 3 half empty bottles of Tylenol and 2 half empty bottles of Ibuprofen. My children were sick, and I could not find either of them, so my husband made a medicine run. Does this happen to you or is it just me? I have purchased some baskets and labeled them so that we (my husband and I) can start putting things back where they go.
Tip #3: DECLUTTER
I am getting better at decluttering. In the past, I have waited until the New Year rolls around to organize my bathroom or linen cabinet. Waiting that long creates to much work and it became more of a “chore” instead of a 5min clean-up task.
The tips above actually work. I have been doing it for roughly 4 months now. It has been keeping my spaces organized and tidy, which has brought me a sense of calmness when I open my medicine cabinet, the drawers in my bathroom, or my linen closet. I also decided to start having “fun” with it. Just putting the fun back into these chore items has helped greatly. I have changed my mindset. It needs to get done and instead of being crabby about it, I decided to listen to my favorite music and jam out while cleaning. It sometimes has taken me longer because my children think it’s a dance party while putting things away, so they have joined.
If you need guidance or help on how or where to start, just give me a call. I would love to collaborate with you on bringing calmness into your untidy, cluttered spaces. Let’s face it. Our lifestyle is always changing. I have learned to start transforming my spaces instead of adapting to them. How about you? Let’s start promoting creativity and well-being….
